- New York Knicks jerseys first sported a logo during their initial season (1946-47) and through the 1963 - 1964 season, that contained a picture of a "Knickerbocker" male figure bouncing a basketball.
- Once the 1964 - 1965 campaign began, the New York Knicks changed the logo on their jerseys and now had what became their classic "roundball" symbol. Even though it went through some small style and colour adjustments, the logo essentially remained the same through the 1991 - 1992 schedule.
- Since 1992, the Knicks made public an amended adaptation of the teams symbol that had on it a 3 dimensional, modernized script, framed inside a a three-sided polygon .
- The term "Knickerbockers" has its beginings back with the Dutch settlers who came to what now is called The Big Apple. To be specific, it is in reference to the style of trousers these new Americans wore ... trousers that rolled up to the knee, and which went on to be called "Knickerbockers," or for short "knickers".
- The clubs colours have consistently been orange, white, and blue which happen to be the official colours of the Big Apple. The only exception to this was the seasons from from 1980-81 through 1982-83.
- The team went on to use 3 more secondary crests in recent times, on special occasions.
- The Knickerbockers are 1 of only 2 charter members of the NBA that are still in the original cities they began life in. Do you know the other? They are the Boston Celtics.
- This team and 10 other clubs had their start in 1946. Some arena owners had come together to talk about creating the BAA, or the Basketball Association of America, which later became known as the National Basketball Association. The original teams besides this one were Boston Celtics, the Philadelphia Warriors, the Providence Steamrollers, the Detroit Falcons, the St. Louis Bombers, the Washington Capitols, the Toronto Huskies, the Pittsburgh Ironmen, the Chicago Stags, and finally the Cleveland Rebels.
- Players who ran up and down for this club and ended up in the Hall of Fame include Walt Bellamy, Bill Bradley, Dave DeBusschere, Walt Frazier, Harry Gallatin, Tom Gola, Jerry Lucas, Bob McAdoo, Dick McGuire, Earl Monroe, and Willis Reed.
- Players with retired numbers for this team are as follows: Walt Frazier #12, Dick Barnett, #15 Earl Monroe, #15 Dick McGuire, #19 Willis Reed, #22 Dave DeBusschere, #24 Bill Bradley, #33 Patrick Ewing.
- Willis Reed was one of the most dominant players ever to sport this teams logo. Here are some of his accomplishments:
* National Basketball Association ROY in 1965
* As a rookie, Willis had an average of 19 1/2 points per game and 14.7 rebounds per game.
* Willis was Most Valuable Player in the NBA in 1970, and also in the finals that year he won the MVP honours.
* Mr. Reed was a 7 time All Star, from1965 through 1971, and won 2 championships. Those were in 1970, and 1973.
* In 5 campaigns, Wilis averaged over 20 points a game.
