• Orlando Magic jerseys first appeared when team joined the league in 1988. The jerseys had a pin stripe and 2 large stars on the front. One of the stars made the letter A in the word Magic.
• The Orlando Magic put jerseys on the back of their original draft pick Nick Anderson for ten years.
• The original Magic away jerseys also had pinstripes, but instead of a white background, the road outfit had a black background. The team nickhame was replaced with the city name on the away gear.
• By 1998 the Orlando jerseys did away with the pinstripes and went with a clean look. The team nickhame stayed, and so did the star in place of the A.
• The newest uniforms have done away with all the trappings, and have a very simple clean look. The stars are relegated to a small area at the tip of the V in the collar area.
• An all star team made up of players from this team could look like this; at Guard Penny Hardaway, at Guard Tracy McGrady, at Forward Dennis Scott, at Forward Horace Grant, and at Center Shaquille O'Neal.
• A pretty good second team could look like this; playing Guard Nick Anderson, at Guard Scott Skiles, playing Forward Terry Catledge, also at Forward Jeff Turner, and at Center Bo Outlaw.
• Without doubt, the largest mistake by this club was not being able to hold on to Shaq back in 1996 because in his 4 years with the club, the big man scored an average of 27.2 and 12.5 rebounds. Those numbers dipped slightly in the playoffs, but were still fantastic. Once Shaq got to the bright lights of California, he was part of a dominating dynasty winning 3 straight titles.
• Once Shaq left town and headed to L.A, Penny Hardaway could no longer carry the franchise and quickly went down hill without the big man around.
• The teams name trades on the proximity and the citys' being synonomous with Disneyworld.
• The club chose twelve athletes during the running of the 1989 National Basketball Association Expansion Draft, and they included the following men; Reggie Theus, Scott Skiles, Terry Catledge, Sam Vincent, Otis Smith, and Jerry Reynolds. After that, the franchise took Nick Anderson with it's eleventh overall pick. No women were drafted by the club in either the expansion draft or the regular draft that year or in any year since.
• On the date May 17, 1992, the team won 1st pick in the N B A Lottery. Then during the 1992 Draft, the club selected the most sought after player in years. That was 7'1", 301 lb Shaquille O'Neal out of Louisiana State.
• Shaq, who has a great presence on the hardwood, has a shaved head, a huge smile, and quickly became one of the most famous faces in all of pro sports, easily rivaling MJ as the games ambassador.
