- The choice to put Phoenix Suns on their jerseys came about after a write in contest in 1968. The name Phoenix suns was put on their jerseys after suggestions such as Firebirds, Goal Diggers, Gold Nuggets, Gold Sabres, Grandes, Gransuns, Grasshoppers, Hardrocks, Hoopsters, Sweethearts, Tarantulas, Thorns, and the Thunderbelters were considered.
- A first string team of athletes in Pheonix Suns jerseys could include Guard Jason Kidd, Guard Walter Davis, Forward Larry Nance, Forward Charles Barkley, and Center Alvan Adams. That would leave all star Steve Nash as the sixth man.
- Mr. Dick Van Arsdale was one of the first players to have a locker full of Pheonix Suns jerseys. He was the very 1st athlete taken during the expansion draft of '68 and went on to take credit for the 1st basket made on 10/18 while playing Seattle.
