  • The San Antonio Spurs players did not always were Spurs jerseys. The club started it's life in May of 1967 and were then known as the Dallas Chaparrals.

  • During 1977, the roof of their stadium (the Hemifair arena) was actually raised to make room for extra seats. By doing the renovations, 6000 extra seats were added.
  • The Club was the top scoring team in the entire NBA during the 1976 -1977 campaign. That was thanks to George Gervin mainly, and Larry Kenon to a lesser extent.
  • They got off to a great start in the 1978 - 1979 season by absolutely demolishing Milwaukee by a score of 153 - 111 in the first game at home that year.

  • George Gervin, who was known as the "Iceman" during his playing days and didn't seem to mind, carried this franchise to 5 division titles during the '70s and '80s. George was the 1st guard in National Basketball Association history who won scoring titles back-to-back.
  • On 5/17/87 the club was happy to announce it was victorious in the Draft Lottery. Using pick number one the organization showed they wanted to win by choosing a seven foot center by the name of Robinson. But David Robinsons was not to make an immediate impact, as he was a off with the navy for two years.
