* A New York Mets Jerseys with U. S. A. patch, such as worn by John Franco on September 17, 2001, which was the first game after the September 11 attacks in New York.
* The bats used the night Robin Ventura hit grand slams in both halves of a twin bill on May 20, 1999.
* The NL Cy Young trophies won by Tom Seaver in 1969 and 1975.
- The Mets have retired 3 jerseys numbered 14, 37, and 41. Those jerseys belonged to Gil Hodges, Casey Stengel, and Tom Seaver .
- Rookies of the Year in Mets jerseys include pitcher Tom Seaver, pitcher Jon Matlack, outfielder Darryl Strawberry, and pitcher Dwight Gooden.
- In 1964, mascot "Mr. Met" became Major League Baseball's first modern live-action mascot despite disappearing for most of the 1980's..
- Lee Reynolds, who for 3 years played the part of the mascot "Mr. Met", is a Major in the Army and has most recently been stationed in the Armys public affairs office at Camp X-Ray in Guantanamo Bay.
- The team name stems from an old American Association club from NY called the "Metropolitans." When the National League expanded in 1962, the NY franchise selected the shortened form for a nickname.
